Nunc Dimittis
Still the best rendition DIH has ever heard. From the end credits of John Le Carre's "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy."
Lord, now lettest Thou Thy servant depart in peace
According to Thy word!
For mine eyes have seen Thy salvation
Which Thou has prepared before the face of all peoples
To be a light to the Gentiles,
And to be the glory of Thy people, Israel.
In loving memory of Norman Ferren.

Which Thou has prepared before the face of all peoples

And to be the glory of Thy people, Israel.
In loving memory of Norman Ferren.
Love your blog. Pretty funny for a conservative.

Thank you for remembering Norman.
ReplyDeleteHe was my uncle and an incredible person. I googled his name this evening and your blog listed second.
Unfortunately I was unable to attend his services, but it was wonderful to hear how many came to pay their respects. Makes so happy and proud to see that he left a lasting impression on so many.
Again, thank you.
John W. Ferren
Norman had this funny and deliberately over-formal way of greeting his comrades by saying, "Hello, my friend."
ReplyDeleteNorman was my friend. And he will be dearly missed.
Thank you for this memorial.

Thank you for opening my ears and brain.
ReplyDeleteI posted the "Tinker, Tailor" end credits video. I found your site thanks to the "Links" section under the video.
I had assumed the singing was in Latin and never paid too much attention until I read your post and finally understood. I put the words and a credit to you in my video comments.
Please pass the following on to all those who might appreciate it.
