You Heard It Here!
"WASHINGTON- Keith Ellison (D-MN) made history today, becoming the first Muslim member of Congress and punctuating the occasion by taking a ceremonial oath with a Quran once owned by thomas Jefferson.
Ellison had already planned to be sworn in using a Quran rather than a Bible. He learned last month about Jefferson's Quran, and arranged to borrow it [ from the Library of Congress]." [h/t Breitbart]
[He would have brought his own copy, but he left it at his ex-girlfriend's house. And that restraining order the judge granted her a few weeks ago kind of put the kibosh on that.]
In other news, Nancy Pelosi became the first female Speaker of the House today. In her opening speech she thanked her family, "for giving me the courage to go from the kitchen to the Congress!"
[She added later, "And with a net worth of 25 mil, let me tell you that was one heck of a nice kitchen!"]

I keep having nightmares involving Frank Church. (I wish someone had thought of separating Church and State back THEN...)

Yes- the media is just gushing over Nancy's great accomplishment. Do you recall all the excitement when Condi Rice became Secretary of State? You don't? Yeah- me neither.
ReplyDeleteNo word on if she said she was glad she had not aborted her kids or that her kids had not aborted her grandkids.
