It's February, And My Question Is...

... why do the media keep telling us about "African-American heroes" during "Black History Month"?

Someone's asleep at the ol' language switch.

  1. I haven't been paying very much attention, but it's possible that Black History month covers topics not exclusively African-American, African, or American. Maybe they talk about slavery during the Colonial period, or slavery in places like Louisiana, that weren't always "American." Or perhaps they discuss stuff that occurred in "the Americas," but not the U.S.A.

  2. Last time I looked, this one. Why do you ask?

  3. Don't journalists have to take an English class or two in college before they graduate?? Don't their editors?
